Gorgeous, Amie, and so beautifully timed! I love the scent of pickling - your post has taken me right back to pickling season when I was a child. I don't make traditional pickle because I don't get on with sugar - but early this week I threw four thickly-sliced homegrown cucumbers into the liquor left over once I'd strained my latest batch of sauerkraut, and the crunchy, ferment-rich and tangy results are absolutely stunning!
I need to stop raiding that jar every time I walk past, because manners.... 😉
I would love to have a cookbook with one of your micro-stories for every recipe. I loves this so much!
Whoa...now that’s a helluva good idea!
*sets aside MS of long-form family cookbook*

Perfect timing indeed, my friend!
I’m on round two of Yolanda’s hermits! They are the best!
If only I knew who Yolanda is/was...a secret that my mom carried to the grave
One of the women who is in the Hendricks little dippers, is named Yolanda the next time I see her I’m going to ask if she is THE Yolanda!
Love those old recipes cards.
Agree. So evocative! I love it.
Amie, I love this one! I can see it, smell it, and taste it. Great.
Next step: make it 😆
