Just wow, Amie. An exceptional story - I've got goosepimples!

Your grandfather's presentation of the word 'sim-ul-tan-eous-ly' has taken me right back to my own grandparents helping me learn to read. 'Build it up, build it up!' they'd say, encouraging me to take one little chunk at a time. Thank you for the memory. 😊

I love the memory my grandfather evoked for you. With his British ancestry, maybe we are distant cousins??

Lucky you to be part of a family in which creativity is passed and nurtured from generation to generation. What a lovely illustration from your grandfather and beautiful handwriting too. I can see it was all transmitted to you, along with your talent for writing with a poet's touch.

A very insightful observation, Ruth. I’m grateful for all the creativity passed down to me, even if it wasn’t the artist gene.

I wish I had known them as an adult to ask them more about their processes and lives as writers and artists. For now, their journals, books and artwork tell the tales.
