mums had hundreds of these cards from France from the seventies, they are divine. My daughter has now inherited them. Again, love your writingX

Ah, how well I remember Home Ec, though not the mimeographed sheets. A lemon meringue pie and a “puffy omelet” rather than fondue and Bisquick come to mind. I love the imagery your microstory calls to mind and the smart idea of veganized meatballs with cranberry sauce—old+new=delish! Always a great read, Amie!🤗

i have all of my grandmother’s recipe cards - six boxes full.

each time i finger a greased stained card, i think of her own hands writing each one, line by line…

my MFA thesis was also centered around family stories told through food, written as recipes as an artist book: recipes for (re)collection.

i served a version of these exact meatballs at the opening reception from her “i hate to cookbook.” the only difference was grape jelly instead of cranberry.

That's one wild recipe! I remember mimeograph machines with light blue ink, but I can't recall the smell.
