Thank you Amie. Your writing is beautiful and this piece brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for the reminder...measure our time together in moments not months. Sending you hugs.
Just a wonderful, heartbreaking essay, Amie. Somehow in a few perfectly chosen words you capture the essence of your mother, your love for her and the emotion and beauty of the scene. A stunning photo too.
I had a boyfriend whose family had a wonderful house on a promontory over Booth Bay Harbor. We took the boat out to Seal Rock. The family has the largest collection of half-hulls anywhere. Now the brothers rent the house out. It is still standing tall. I loved my time there. It is a wonderful place. Greg was the Postmaster of Boothbay Harbor back then

Amie, I love all of your posts but this beautiful, beautiful story is absolute perfection. It's goosepimpling and raw, heartbreaking and REAL.
Awesome work.

Great and easily understood story!
So many of us can relate. You were a tremendous inspiration and help in those tough years.

So poignant. You brought tears to my eyes. I have been there too.
It’s a painful and sweet and scary and sad journey, isn’t it.
Beautiful.
Beautiful. And heartbreaking. And far closer to my own experience that I'd like to...
Stronger together.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this. Love the photo of Southport Harbor also. 💖
