hey, you found me!

I’m Amie, a food and travel writer who grew up on an island in Maine among a family of writers and artists. As a kid, my career goal was to be a famous novelist.

Life happened; the writing did not. After twenty years of wandering the fjords of Norway and partying on every beach in Southern California, I finally got a degree in English.

Somehow, I landed a career in insurance sales and marketing. After 25 years in the corporate world, I stepped down to care for my mom. And suddenly, the words poured out.

Today, I write and share how the two worlds I inhabit—island and desert—have shaped my writing roots.

My writing on food and travel has won awards in literary publications, including HerStry and Intrepid Times, and my work has appeared in anthologies and literary magazines including Brevity, Short Reads, Maine Magazine, Maine Sunday Telegram and Exposition Review.

the micro mashup

I write about road trips and recipes and share vintage pages from my family's sketchbooks. Each microstory is precisely 100 words. Count them—I dare you!
